Choosing a WoW Spec by Role: Tank, Healer or DPS
· 4 min read
If you are not sure which specialization to play, start with the role. Tank, healer and damage dealer each ask for a different kind of attention, and that is a better guide than any tier list.
Tanks: control and survival
Tanks manage threat, positioning and defensive cooldowns. Your attention goes to incoming damage as much as outgoing damage, so choose a tank if you like reading a fight.
Healers: awareness and triage
Healers watch health bars and decide who needs what, and when. Choose a healer if you like responding to pressure and keeping others alive.
Damage dealers: execution
Damage dealers are judged on how cleanly they execute a priority list and align cooldowns. Choose damage if you like improving a number over many attempts.
Where LUX fits
LUX is a damage-dealer tool today. The one rotation that exists is Rogue Assassination. Tank and healer rotations are not built yet.
All 40 specializations by role
13 classes and 40 specializations, following Midnight. This list may change with the game. Only Rogue Assassination has a LUX rotation today.
